A wind farm is a area of land covered with turbines, these turbines produce power by the wind turning the three blades at the top, This power is used to power certain place around the wind farm for example house, factory's and stores in certain situations.

The benefits of having a wind farm are :-
~It is a free type of power that can never run out
~there are more jobs

The down side of having a wind farm are :-
~when building the wind farm it disturbs the wild life and effects the landscape however after the wind farm is built, the company's try to protect the wild life as best as they can
~people that walk up trails might not want to walk up the same ones as the wind farm might destroy the experience of the environment
~it costs a lot of money to build awind farm

Wind Farms

Wind power is a renewable source of energy which means that it can not run out, it uses turbines to create electricity, wind power is found all over the world but mostly in the USA and the UK.
Wind farms are usually put in exposed areas e.g on top of a hill, flat land with nothing to obstruct the wind, wind farms should be close to roads so they are accessible for maintenance and construction work.

Some advantages to wind farms are: it would never run out, requires less maintenance than traditional generators, costs less, it produces little or no waste.
Some disadvantages: it is difficult to generate the quantities of electricity, renewable energy often relies on the weather on its source  of power.

Their are positive and negative views to Wind farms, Some people say wind farms are good because it means the country is using more renewable energy, where as other as saying that wind farm aren't good because they spoil scenery and affects tourists.
Wind farms are a sorce of renewable energy that can power 6million homes in a year and encore to supply 1,500 average EU household electricity
For a Wind farm to co-operate  properly with a community it has to have easily acseseble by roads, near college and universities,  near homes but not to near that it would disturb people, in an area where the land is quite exposed and high up.
Wind farms help a community by creating more jobs for people, cheaper energy and a lot better for the environment but along with all the good factors their are many bad ones like the space, wand farm can take up a lot of space and can cost a lot to build, spoils scenery for people and many people say that they wouldn't visit or revist any where in Scotland due to wind farms

What is a wind farm? A wind farm is something that makes electricity and passes it out within places, and a good renewable energy.

Where are the found? Wind farms are usually found on hills and open areas due to them being up to high that can cause to much wind that can put the blades on the turbines in stress that could break them.

Benefits and disadvantages
Benefits
  • Are that the supply a lot of energy and the last about 20 years so that's a lot of energy from something like that
  • The wind is free and with modern technology it can be captured efficiently.
  • The are valued as making the landscapes more attractive to some people.
  • It's a good place to go out and see like if you were going for a cycle it would be a good place to visit.
Disadvantages
  • Some people don't really like them due to the noise the make but that depends on where there placed.
  • the largest single turbine available today can only provide enough electricity for 475 homes, when running at full capacity.
  • The strength of the wind is not constant and it varies from zero to storm force. This means that wind turbines do not produce the same amount of electricity all the time. There will be times when they produce no electricity at all.

Some other information
  • There are over 5000 wind turbines and 460 wind farms in the UK and growing rapidly as the UK try's to be more Eco-friendly.
  • The foundations are really strong as the hold the turbines up and keep them up straight.
  • The government are happy to spend money on them as the electricity is being supplied by these turbines.

A wind farm needs to be quit high up, close to roads and close to collages. The area around it will need a lot of space to build more things.

Disadvantage; nearly three quarters of  respondents (73%) said they would choose accommodation without a wind farm.

Advantage; you can save lots of money, it's renewable.

Wind farms are a clean and efficient way of producing energy for Scotland. Whitelee wind farm Is one of the biggest wind farms in Europe and has 215 turbines witch produces 539 megawatts witch can power 300 000 homes. However to build a wind farm it needs to be windy and have plenty of room. Some disadvantages are you need to have a high windy place that is large enough for the turbines also some people think it ruins the aesthetics of the landscape. There's some advantages too like once they are build it's very clean and it can reduce the amount of pollution that is produced form power plants etc. Though in the construction faze animal habitats can get destroyed but once finished it can be restored and a healthy place for animals to live.
Good- in 20 minutes it can power 300,000, we have been harnessing the power of windfarms for 100s        Of years. A windfarm is an electricity source powered by wind it is a renewable energy source.           Disadvantages- if the place isn't windy then there's no power. When they get built they destroy habitat and pus it will make a mess of the landscape.

Wind farms make wind energy. They use which are turned by the wind which create the energy. They are usually found on hills and in open areas. This is because in high areas there is more wind and the open areas don't have  blocking the wind.

Advantages and Disadvantages

The advantages of wind technology are that the energy doesn't have a cost to make, it produces a lot of energy and it does less damage to the. The disadvantages of wind farms are that it doesn't look very nice, it takes up a lot of coutryside and it deters walkers and climbers.
Wind farms

A wind farm is a group of wind turbines in the same location used to produce energy. You can get offshore wind turbines as well as onshore. A large wind farm may consist of several hundred or more wind turbines therefore generating a lot of energy.
Wind farms tend to be located in rather hilly, mountainous areas. This is usually because there is more wind higher up which is useful for more wind power to be generated.
Wind is a renewable energy resource and there are no fuel costs. No harmful polluting gases are produced.

Wind power spelt W.I.N.D. .P.O.W.E.R. Is a renewable source of energy, meaning it doesn't run out, unlike a fossil fuel like coal which is a un renewable source of energy, meaning it is run out.
Wind power has been used as a source of energy for a long time,We can use the energy in the wind by building a tall tower, with a large propellor on the top.
The wind blows the propellor round, which turns a generator to produce electricity.
How it works

There are over 5000 wind turbines and 460 wind farms in the UK and growing rapidly as the UK try's to be more Eco-friendly.

Wind Farm,

Wind farm technology is a form of generating renewable energy. A wind farm is a collection of wind turbines. These turbines use the force of the wind to activate a motor, which generates electricity. In order to achieve optimum amounts of energy, wind farms are usually sited in exposed areas e.g. atop a hill, flat land with nothing to obstruct the wind etc. Wind farms should also be located close to main roads so that they're easily accessible for maintenance and construction. Also, wind farms should be situated in a large, spacious area where there is a large amount of land for the construction and expansion of the wind farm. In order to minimise complaints from the public, wind farms should be constructed at locations that are not close to major residential areas.

Wind energy has many advantages. One of these advantages is that it is renewable. This means that it will never run out and is a reliable source of energy. Another advantage is that an increase in the the use of renewable energies such as wind power, would mean that there will be less reliance on fossil fuels such as oil and gas. This in turn, will help the environment as, when used to generate energy, fossil fuels damage the environment, however wind power is harmless.

Although wind energy has many advantages, it has a fair amount of disadvantages too. Firstly, to purchase and construct the turbines, it is extremely expensive.

Wind Power

Wind power is a type of renewable energy, it uses turbines to create electricity.
Wind power is found all over the world mostly in USA and UK, specifically on high up places as that is where the wind is at its strongest.

The main advantages of using wind power are that it will never run out, it doesn't cause greenhouse gasses and after the turbine is built the wind is free.

The main disadvantages of using wind power are that some people don't like the look of wind farms and it can kill birds.

Wind power is when you transfer wind, usually by using wind turbines, into energy. Wind turbines are generally found in high, open areas. They are often in remote places.

The main benefits to wind farms are that it is renewable so will never run out. It also creates visitor centres and new attractions for people to visit, which is good for the economy. It is powered by free, natural energy and are extremely efficient.

The main disadvantages are that they make views less appealing and can ruin the landscapes. They could put tourists off from visiting the area and less people will want to hill climb and walk in the areas.

Most wind energy comes from turbines that can be as tall as a 20-story building and have three 200-foot-long (60-meter-long) blades. These contraptions look like giant airplane propellers on a stick. The wind spins the blades, which turn a shaft connected to a generator that produces electricity. Other turbines work the same way, but the turbine is on a vertical axis and the blades look like a giant egg beater.

Wind farms are a renewable energy source. They capture the power of the wind and turn it into electricity.

Wind farms are found on shore and off shore. On shore wind farms are mostly found in high places, where there is more wind.

Advantages
  • No fossil fuels are burned
  • They are infinite, they never run out
  • Any extra energy created can be sold to back to the government to make profit
  • Doesn't produce any harmful toxins like fossil fuels
  • Less maintenance than traditional generators
Disadvantages
  • Costly
  • Can ruin landscapes
  • Difficult to generate the quantity of energy fossil fuels can
  • Relies on weather, so it can be unreliable

Wind power is power made from wind. It's found at wind farms which are generally built in the       Hills. The disadvantages are that wind farms can ruin views and effects natures habitat which makes tourists less likely to visit. The advantages are turbines last for 20 years and 215 turbines can produce up to 539 megawatts of electricity. That's enough to power just under 300,000 homes. Some people perceive turbines as noisy even though they're very quiet. Turbines are very efficient as they use a free natural source.

A wind farm is a collection of windmills or turbines which are used to generate electrical power through their mechanical motions as they are pushed by the wind. Wind turbines will only perform well in locations with a good wind resource. High ground in westerly regions with no obstructions between the turbine and the prevailing wind are good locations for wind turbines.Benefits of a wind turbine would be that it's more ecofriendly and cheaper energy. The disadvantages would be that it disrupts views/spoil the scenery, unexpected weather could cause issues, and less tourism because Scotland gets a lot of money from its scenery.

Our windfarm location

Our location is just south of Bathgate known as Crichton hill. It is a reasonably remote area and has good transport links such as the train station in fauldhouse and the A 70. The main benefits of wind farms are, they produce 537 megawatts of energy per 250 turbines, wind turbines are very cost efficient as they don't require much maintence and for thoughts of you that don't know, wind is free.
Wind power is completely renewable and it has a very good cost-to-output ratio. However good wind turbines are, there are also disadvantages, in some cases they are perceived to be noisy they ruin views and can cause conflicts within communities. Keeping in mind that Scotland's oil is gradually running out we think that by constructing more renewable energy sources in the present it will help us be more prepared for the future.

Wind power

Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as using wind turbines to make electrical energy, windmills for mechanical power, wind pumps for water pumping or drainage, or sails to propel ships. Wind power is found in high up locations and basically is a form of weather turned into electrical power that is renewable and less expensive than gas or oil.

The main advantages are: it's renewable, no pollution, less expensive, generates lots of power, modern technology, doesn't take a lot of land, they look nice to some people,

The main disadvantages are: bad look, noisy, When wind turbines are being manufactured some pollution is produced, it can harm wildlife and it doesn't produce a lot of electricity for to power the homes

Wind Farms Sam & Jack

Wind farms are a collection of wind turbines in a consistently windy area with raised elevation for maximum production of energy.
Some benefits of wind farms are the clean energy it provides and the long lasting efficiency of the wind turbines.
But some disadvantages is the cost of setup per turbine and the space they take up as the turbines are usually placed on a hill which some hikers like to walk spoiling the tourism point.

Wind Farms

Wind farms are lots of wind turbines put together in a large open spaces on land and in water where there is lots of wind that spins the turbines propellers around to create renewable energy. Some downfalls of wind farms are that they are noisy, ruins the landscape, kills birds and wildlife, they deter visitors and destroy habitats. The benefits of wind farms are they are a renewable source of energy, don't pollute the atmosphere,  less carbon dioxide ( CO2 ) admission and don't use up fossil fuels. You can also have wind farms in the sea where the waves help create strong wind currents to spin the turbines.

Wind farms are a renewable source of energy, found in high up windy places and off shore

The main benefits of wind farms include lower CO2 emissions.
The main disadvantages of wind farms are short term they cost a lot of money but long term they are a spoiler of the country side.

Alex Salmond stated that Scotland should be mostly independent on wind and other renewable energy sources.
